Welcome to 2019!
I hope you had an amazing New Year. Jim was ill so we stayed in, binged The Office US and, watched Madness on BBC One and saw the fireworks on TV. It was good!
Do you try and make resolutions for the year? I have never really bothered. The last 2 years, I set goals (when you have a business it comes naturally). I decided on a word of the year this time - FUN.
I spent a lot of time trying to make other people happy last year, this year I will be a little more selfish and make sure that everything I do, from the clothes I wear to the holidays I go on will be things I truly love. You have one life, why do anything half-arsed right?
I had a good think about what I want to achieve in 2019, and I have 3 main goals:
Book 50 wedding jobs which include 1 bride hair and makeup + 3 bridesmaid hair and makeup.
I have a lot to do to get this but it can be done if I just work smart. Breaking it down, I need a new laptop (which I am typing this on now). I find myself procrastinating if I do admin at home on a Friday- now I have a nice new laptop, I can head out to a cosy cafe and get out of the house to do my work. So that’s one task down!
Then I need to sort out my SEO for my website. I was planning to have an agency transfer me to Wordpress, but I found an SEO section on Squarespace yesterday. I don’t know if that’s new or if I just didn’t see it before, but I just googled ‘vegan makeup artist Berkshire) and I showed on the 1st page! So will see how that goes for the next couple of months.
I have a ton of photos now compared to last year, so I need to sit down and make sure I am picking the best ones to share on my website/social media/wedding listings. Quality, not quantity!
Lastly, I have booked a stall at Chosen Wedding Fair (I can’t wait!). It looks awesome. I love a couple who are more unconventional and it will be fab to meet the other wedding suppliers there. I will be at the London fair in March, check it out for sure! I have my eye on another fair to book, just need the cash.
Start up a Glitter Makeup Service
Glitter is life, that’s all I really need to say on that goal. Of course I would want to work with glitter as my job!
Become a Zumba Instructor
I LOVE Zumba! It really lifts my mood and I the thought always comes into my head, and has been for a few years now. I thought of my word for the year and decided to just go for it, even if I am a little nervous!
Other little goals are to move to a flat with a bigger kitchen, plan an epic party for my 30th, get a pet gecko (hopefully tomorrow eeek!), and go on holiday obviously. Can’t go without a holiday for too long!
What are your goals?
