The Best Vegan and Cruelty Free Foundation

Vegan and Cruelty Free Makeup - my favourites for a perfect base

Back in 2016, I decided to change my professional makeup kit and use cruelty free and vegan products. It was quite overwhelming to start with, as there is a lot of research to be done on whether brands are actually vegan and cruelty free, plus a risky expense if I don’t end up liking the products I try!
I’ve been able to try a lot of different vegan makeup brands and products not only on myself, but on my clients too. It’s important to see how the makeup works on different skin tones and textures, and that’s how I’ve learn to quickly pick the best products for each client.

Primers

ELF Poreless Putty Primer

I really love the ELF putty primers, in total I have 3 of them for different skin types. Poreless, Mattifying and Luminous. The texture for all of them is really smooth and velvety and they go on the skin really easily.

  • Poreless is great at disguising large pores and creating a good base for your foundation to sit on top of.

  • Mattifying is better for oilier skin and dulls down any shine.

  • Luminous is brilliant for anyone’s complexion that is a little bit dull - it just gives you that lovely glow and perks the skin up some more.

Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula SPF50

I use Rosalique a lot to correct any redness to your skin tone, as this is what it was developed for. It also helps with hypersensitivity and reduces gently reduces the symptoms over time. It does come out the tube bright green, but don’t worry as once applied it turns into a warm skin tone.

If you have very pale skin (like myself), it’s best to wear under foundation but otherwise you can use this as your makeup base. It also contains SPF, so it’s a very great multi purpose product.

You can use code TONI15 for 15% discount if you’d like to give this a try. If you’re unsure, I have some samples so feel free to message me and I can send one to you.

Freshly Cosmetics Radiant Glow Primer Serum

I won some Freshly Cosmetics goodies in a social media giveaway but I have been really impressed! This primer serum is lovely, gives a luminous glow to the skin and my brides always comment on how yummy it smells too. I will definitely be trying more products from this brand.

Arbonne Makeup Primer

The primer is a complete dupe of Mac Prep + Prime, it gives a really silky finish, fills in fine lines and pores and gives a great base for your foundation to stick. Given the choice between cruelty free and non-cruelty free primer? It's a no brainer.

Foundations

Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation

This foundation - OMG! I've never achieved such a flawless base so easily until I used these. The coverage is incredible and in my photos, it looks like I have applied a filter! Amazing. What I really love is that the formula is so lightweight and let's your skin breathe, and it's the first foundation I have used in my life where I don't need concealer most of the time! It. Stays. Put. Clients have slept in this, been to the gym, cooked Christmas dinner (hot oven air blasting their face), it doesn't budge. Love love love it.

Got You Covered Mineral Powder Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

I had never really tried powder foundation before, but I gave the Arbonne one a go in shade Bisque. If you love fuller coverage, this is a brilliant product. It can cover my winter red Rudolph nose and it stays put even when wiping with a tissue, so on super bad skin days I use this. It feels really lightweight and silky too.

Arbonne Intelligence® Pollution Defense CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Another Arbonne product but their bases are my go to as they’re just so brilliant! This CC cream is a fab product if you are in a rush. It primes, hydrates, moisturises, conceals, corrects and does loads of other things. I like to team this with mascara and blusher for an everyday look. It's also great on a wedding job if I have a lot of bridesmaids as the product adapts to your skin tone.

BAREPRO™ PERFORMANCE WEAR LIQUID FOUNDATION SPF 20

I discovered this as a client wanted to use her own foundation, and it went on so lovely! This gives a full coverage finish and feels really lightweight plus it’s very hydrating. Of course it’s also long lasting (a must for a wedding day) and comes in 35 shades.
