A natural, classic hair + makeup look for a vegan, tattooed bride

Cruelty free hair + makeup for a vegan, tattooed bride

Last year I had the best time getting Nadja ready for her wedding to Rory. She contacted me about her wedding as she was mainly looking for someone who shares her values when it comes to beauty, so with us both being vegan and loving rock music it was the perfect fit! Plus, how cool are her tattoos! She’s actually since got a new one which I LOVE.

We had a good discussion at Nadja’s hair and makeup preview about what she was looking for, what her current makeup routine was and came up with a simple, classic look that emphasised her beautiful eyes and cheekbones. We nailed it on the first try! I also advised on skincare and was pleased Nadja took my advice, as it’s always going to help with the makeup applying better, smoother and lasting longer. I now even offer facials and can’t wait to help my brides even further with their skin.

For the hair we tried out glam waves - I wasn’t too sure how it would turn out with shorter hair but I really liked the result and so did Nadja, so we stuck with it. I love how it still shows off the beautiful dress that Nadja got from Velvet Queen Bridal.

The wedding vibe was going to be quite laid back and relaxed, so I didn’t want to go too heavy on the makeup or elaborate with the hair. I focused on getting her skin looking flawless, colour matching her with Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation (now sadly discontinued) and using a cool toned contour along with Danessa Myricks Luxe Cream Palette - The Nudist for the lip and cheek colours. I lined the lips using Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillowtalk - a staple shade in any MUA’s kit.

The eyeshadow and liner were both by KVD Beauty, the eyeshadow palette again being another discontinued product but the Brow Pomade in Graphite is available and can be used for liner and brows (with amazing staying power).

To hold the waves in Nadja’s hairstyle in place, I used Paul Mitchell Dry Wax Spray (use code LFTFTONIBRIDAL for 20% discount) and Maria Nila Strong Hold Hairspray - this one smells amazing! A little goes a long way. Plus a little trick to put a veil in hair that is down - take a section underneath at the back of the head, plait it and then cover with hair over the top. The comb will sit in place in the plait and not budge.

Here is her lovely review of the wedding hair and makeup. Thank you Nadja!

I booked Toni for my wedding hair and make up and a trial session beforehand. I actually followed her work for months before booking and the quality of her work and her educational approach of using cruelty free products just seemed like the perfect fit for me.
The trial was super relaxed I showed Toni some of my inspo pics and she transferred them into a beautiful look for me. Toni was so kind and friendly it felt like hanging out with a good friend while getting your make up done. She also gave me lots of product recommendations for my skin type and was a massive help putting together my time line for the morning of the wedding.
On the day itself she was perfectly on time and the setting was just as relaxing as the trial. Toni really has this aura of calmness which was so appreciated for the morning of my wedding. The look she replicated from the trial was so so beautiful again and held throughout the day making me feel so special. This was the reason why I wanted to book a HMU for my wedding day and Toni delivered exactly (if not more) what I was hoping for.
Thank you for everything Toni I really appreciate you!
