Vegan hair + makeup inspo for the boho bride

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to do a hair and makeup look for a photoshoot showing the latest bridal collection from Maudika Bridal.

Based in Oxfordshire, designers and best friends Maud and Katerina design, create and handmake all their dresses from A to Z using mainly British and French fabrics, so you can be sure they are sustainable and carefully made for you! The dresses in this collection are boho inspired and are very romantic and floaty. A bonus is that all dresses made by Maudika Bridal are vegan and eco friendly.

Bridal makeup is usually quite bronze based and I wanted to show that you can still wear different colours for a wedding makeup look if bronze and copper isn’t your thing.

I created an all vegan, natural makeup look with a little bit of colour on the eyes and lips. I used Danessa Myricks Colorfix Foils Parade and Arbonne lipstick Peony for the colourful makeup. As always, I focused on perfecting Roxxie’s base using IT Cosmetics CC Cream (use code LFTFTONIBRIDAL for discount) and ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer. We finished off the skin with Tropic Crush Pressed Colour Blush - Pinch Me Pink and Hourglass Ambient Light Palette for a subtle highlight.

Roxxie’s hair is super long so I left some wispy pieces out to soften the look of the boho halo crown braid hairstyle. She also has a few dreads so I left a few down and twisted a couple into the braid at the back for some extra detailing. A crown braid is perfect for a long lasting updo if you have a lot of hair - the plait means that your hair is kept very secure and not many pins are needed (just a few strategic ones), so it’s very comfortable to wear.

Saint Beth Official provided the bridal headband accessories to compliment the different dresses. They create ‘Artisan Bridal accessories for romantic brides’ and also fulfill orders for bespoke designs.

Bicycle Blooms Oxford created the floral headband and bouquets used in the shoot too, I love how the two colour options made the makeup look slightly different.
